I spent a whole weekend converting like 20GB worth into the S5000 format and not a single one transferred any filter settings or envelope settings. At best I get tuning, and for the weird ones that it didnt for some reason convert to stereo got panned and layered properly left and right but thats it. Whats funny is, I KNOW these have at the very least envelope settings. Theres a whole crapload of them I played inside Chicken Systems Translator and I can hear the damn envelope release! When I convert them, its all back to default. With Translator, the only one that even works properly is the S5000 format.

Converting to MPC2000 makes everything a drum program.

Im using them in the MPC Software and it cant convert to that format properly either.Ĭonverting to any other MPC makes the thing start duplicating ALL of the samples in every single programs folder, and the filter and pitch settings come out reeeeeeally screwed up in PGM format. Is there some ancient Akai utility I missed that can do this right or is this just how it goes if you dont have an actual sampler to load em up in? CDXtract works fine but still, no envelope or filter stuff. I tested it out with just the Partition A of one of the discs. When I opened the converted files in Kontakt, they had damn envelope and even filter settings on them. None of that stuff translates when it converts to AKP format. Im wondering now if its the MPC Software that cant open them right. The 5000 has settings for extra LFOs and I think it might have multi-stage envelopes that just get kicked aside when the software opens em. The MPC Software either has AD envelopes for a drum program, or ADSR for a keygroup, if I open one of the programs direct from the disc in Awave, I can see all kinds of other parameters like Hold and start times and levels that aren't in the software. I dont have an Akai at all anymore to even try the regular S1000/3000 cd so who knows if those settings are there or not. Translator cant even open its own AKP files either. The Instrument Viewer is completely empty, it doesn't even show you a list of the samples the program it uses heh. So far the only issue is Translator isn't converting dual-mono wavs into stereo ones, but it does it for Akai programs. Im probably just going to leave em, whatever. Only option is just to convert all the audio to straight stereo wav files and just use those. Might as well just keep the created S5000 programs. At least theyre ready to go and I have to start each one like its a default and make em my own anyways. The good thing is, it looks like all the wav files have their loops embedded in em. So far those have always converted and thats one of the important parts there. I can deal with the rest.ĭon't quote me on this as haven't had much time to look at my old programs on K6 but I think it still loads.
